SUFFERING OF OLD AGE

There isn’t true value in this life,
Yet unable to grasp anything one undergoes pain of aging,
Strength and force of body dwindles all,
Once sweet dishes does not please anymore,
Tiny and far objects do not cooperate with sight,
Potential to hear clearly dwindles down,
Dwindling naturalness of tongue derecognizes taste,
Words are weaned from being spoken clearly,
Dwindling vitality of mind invites absent mindedness and sleepiness,
Fallen teeth condemns at hard edibles,
Words and speech uttered lacks clear pronunciation.
Lessened warmth in body rejects thin clothes,
Propping capacity lessens and one can’t withstand heavy,
Pleasure of all senses can’t be utilized despite wishes,
Dwindled vigor of air and nerves in body makes one impatient,
Teases and backbites of others cause sadness and worries,
As five elements in body experience imbalance,
Illness and harm come uninvited from various angles,
Moving, walking, sitting and rising up becomes hard,
And one turns lethargic to such activities,
Rising up is only after propping of two hands,
Head, heavy is made to bend and body needs stick to move,
Walk thus is as slow as cat slyly catching its prey,
Spoilt joints makes sitting down as fallen stone/earth,
Meat and muscles diminishing makes wrinkles visible,
Blood and meat diminishing makes bones of chin and head protrude,
Like a dump intelligence and clarity of mind dwindle,
One’s emotion and mind becomes shaky.
Abnormal tongue fills stomach soon and makes us fed up of taste,
Body becomes too heavy and there is no comfort in any direction,
One lands up not being able to rise up from bed,
External signs vivid saddens and worries internal mind,
Hue and beauty of face disappears and wrinkle is prize,
Whoever nags or teases, whatever disgusting one perceives,
One simply can’t rise up to avoid or do away with such,
Thus one is made to appear, by default, as a realized master (patient, etc).
Since pain of old age is so deep one wishes for death,
Yet in reality one feels so terrified of approaching death.
There it is as if hell’s torture took form on this earth.
